The evening starts with iced cocktails at the apartment of Yvonne Georges which she serves to her guests Marcel, Man Ray and Roché from a trunk transformed as a bar. Marcel courts a sturdy blonde Russian-American, who shows them the extent of the suntan on her thighs.
Later everyone is installed at the Café du Dôme. Roché notes that Marcel's pursuit, direct and precise, is now rapidly bearing fruit; Man Ray is exquisite and Kiki is authoritatively vulgar and coarse. Obscenity reigns. Roché decides to go home to bed.
