From The Discovery of Piranesi's Final Project:
30 May 2023 Monday
I get the feeling that diplomat Dashkoff, or, more probably his wife, actually knew Hélène Gregoroffsky.
I've been meaning to start writing about the new stuff I've learned over the last year of "discovery." For example, the first Russian diplomat to the United States of America was here, right where I am right now, today in 1812. And I know he's already coming back here 20 June 1812. The diplomat and his wife, actually--both times.
I wonder if I might go to Moscow later this year. I'm pretty sure I'd go if I could, but it also seems likely there are risks involved. Or maybe this is really all in some other life.
My brother and I used to play Risk a lot when we were kids.

Produced by The Division of Education, Philadelphia Museum of Art for the exhibition Marcel Duchamp organized by The Philadelphia Museum of Art and The Museum of Modern Art, New York. Made possible in part by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. Designer: William P. Miller, Jr.
The Marcel Duchamp newspaper was published by the Philadelphia Museum of Art in light of the fact that the exhibition catalogue was not available in time for the opening of the Marcel Duchamp exhibition at Philadelphia--the newspaper was a free hand-out at the Philadelphia exhibition. The Marcel Duchamp exhibition catalogue was first available at the Museum of Modern Art opening of the exhibition with again the Marcel Duchamp newspaper also available as a free hand-out. Ultimately, the Marcel Duchamp newspaper was a free hand-out at The Art Institute of Chicago Marcel Duchamp exhibition as well.

Confirms to Mrs Marianne Martin, who is preparing his biographical notes for the Philadelphia Museum of Art, that he took his citizenship paper in February [9.3.1954] and is now expecting "the final OK, which should have come long ago"
Regarding his paintings: she may mention that he was baptized in the church at Blainville, represented in the picture of 1902 [18.12.1949]; "Marcel Lefrançois was the nephew of our cook," explains Duchamp, "and the portrait 29.12.1949] was painted during one of his visits to his aunt." As for the identity of the sitter of L'Homme au Balcon by Albert Gleizes, Mrs Martin should write to Dr Henri Barzun, "who knew Gleizes intimately at the time."

Recommends to Fiske Kimball the work of Nicolas Calas on Hieronymus Bosch: "The method, far from orthodox, is particularly interesting and original and I thought that maybe one or some lectures dealing principally with the Epiphanie by Bosch which the museum of Philadelphia possesses could be of great interest."
