The restraint comes from artificial qualifiers, for example, the qualifier within "serious artist." Who exactly are the non-serious artists? (And if they exist, I'm sure they have names.)

Perhaps Biggy (or any artist that feels constrained in some way) should turn his/her questioning into a work of art.

From my own experience, and here I'm speaking as someone that actually owned and operated an art gallery in Philadelphia in the early 1990s, the look of a buyer didn't matter one iota, nor was there anything predictable as to who would buy and who wouldn't.

You could tell, however, those that came for the free food at openings—the trick-or-treaters we called them.
